Description
Rimuru Tempest began existence as Satoru Mikami, a 37-year-old Japanese salaryman who perished after being stabbed while protecting a colleague. Reincarnated in a fantasy realm as a slime, Rimuru acquired unique abilities: Predator, enabling consumption and mimicry of other beings, and Great Sage, an analytical skill that evolved into Raphael and later Ciel. Early in this new life, Rimuru met the sealed Storm Dragon Veldora Tempest. Their deep friendship culminated in a name exchange—a significant act boosting Rimuru's magical power and establishing their shared surname. This bond prompted Rimuru to temporarily absorb Veldora to analyze and break the imprisoning seal.

Initially manifesting as a small, translucent blue slime roughly 20-40 cm wide, Rimuru's form expanded to 80-100 cm following multiple evolutions. Consuming the deceased adventurer Shizue Izawa granted Rimuru a human form—androgynous and resembling Shizue, featuring silver-blue hair and golden eyes. This form changed over time: starting at 120 cm childlike, growing to 135-140 cm upon becoming a True Demon Lord, and stabilizing at 155 cm as an Ultimate Slime. The author confirms Rimuru is biologically genderless and sexless, possessing no physical sexual characteristics, and identifies as neutral despite past-life male memories. Translation discrepancies have occasionally misgendered Rimuru, but official sources emphasize a genderless identity.

Rimuru's personality merges kindness, strategic cunning, and a profound aversion to conflict. Retaining traits from life as Satoru Mikami, Rimuru is diligent, polite, and struggles to refuse requests, often leading to overwork. Diplomacy defines Rimuru's approach, prioritizing negotiation and alliance-building, exemplified by founding the Jura Tempest Federation—a monster nation championing interspecies equality. However, threats to subordinates or allies provoke severe, ruthless retaliation, including torture or annihilation of foes. This duality reflects a core belief: "Ideals without power are nonsense, and power without ideals is empty." Rimuru's leadership involves meticulous planning and occasional manipulation, such as altering records to preserve a benevolent image, yet genuine care for followers remains central. Anxiety and self-doubt persist, particularly concerning human-monster relations, tempered by pragmatic adaptability.

Rimuru's abilities grew substantially through consumption and evolution. Key skills encompass Predator (evolving into Gluttony via merging with the Orc Lord's Starved skill, and later Beelzebuth as an Ultimate Skill), allowing absorption of targets to gain their powers; Great Sage (evolving into Raphael by sacrificing the Degenerate skill during ascension to True Demon Lord, and later Ciel), providing analysis, skill management, and autonomous decisions; Shapeshifting and Mimicry for altering form, including partial transformations like wings or armor, and replicating human appearances; plus combat and utility skills such as Black Flame, Megiddo (focused sunlight beams), Magical Barrier, and non-combat abilities like Item Reproduction for creating Earth-like goods. Following the massacre in Tempest by the Falmuth Kingdom, Rimuru sacrificed 10,000 human souls to ascend as a True Demon Lord, gaining immortality and amplifying subordinates' power through naming bonds. Further evolution into an Ultimate Slime occurred after acquiring Veldora and Velgrynd's powers, culminating in Reality Warper-level capabilities via the Ultimate Skill Void God Azathoth.

Rimuru's journey spans building Tempest from a village to an influential nation, resolving conflicts like the Orc Lord invasion, and joining the Octagram as a recognized Demon Lord. Key arcs involve forging alliances with figures like the Dwarven King Gazel and Demon Lord Milim Nava, while spin-offs like *The Slime Diaries* depict Rimuru's casual governance and community interactions. Throughout, Rimuru balances human ethics drawn from Satoru and Shizue's memories with monster instincts, gradually adopting a detached, pragmatic leadership style without abandoning core ideals of peace and convenience.
