Description
Noah Thomas, the fourth and youngest son of Bert and Joanna Thomas, lives with his family in Bolingbroke, Nova Scotia, during Anne Shirley's early residency there. He possesses blonde hair and brown eyes, his appearance reflecting his status as the youngest child. Noah resides alongside his siblings Eliza, Horace, Edward, and Harry, and the orphaned Anne Shirley, who helps care for the children.
During his infancy, Noah battles severe hypothermia. In this crisis, his father Bert momentarily overcomes his alcoholism to brave freezing conditions and secure vital medicine, marking a rare parental intervention within the generally neglectful Thomas household and highlighting Noah's vulnerability.
Noah's relationship with Anne Shirley stands as one of the few positive elements in his early life. Acting as a caregiver, Anne forms a bond with Noah. This connection serves as a brighter aspect for both characters amidst the family's dysfunction. Noah's presence contributes to Anne's experience nurturing young children, a role she later carries forward.
After Bert Thomas dies in a train accident and the family faces financial collapse, Noah stays with his mother and brothers. His life beyond the Thomas household remains undocumented following Anne's departure to the orphanage.
