Description
Azukina is a fairy princess from a kingdom neighboring the Sweets Kingdom. She resembles a pale pink squirrel with raspberry eyes, short mauve hair featuring a white flower ornament, and distinctive pink stripes on her back and tail. Engaged to Tarte, crown prince of the Sweets Kingdom, as part of a union pact, they share a close, affectionate bond. When Tarte journeys to the human world seeking the Pretty Cure, Azukina grows deeply concerned for his safety. Her anxiety surfaces during his brief return with the warriors, marked by unease over his proximity to them. To prevent Tarte from undertaking a dangerous mission to the Mushy Bean Woods for the Sweets Kingdom's Elder, she deliberately unseals a powerful Mashin monster imprisoned there, hoping to obstruct his quest and keep him with her, despite endangering him and the Pretty Cure.
Confronted by Tarte, Azukina takes responsibility. She infiltrates the forest shrine, evades the monster's attacks, and retrieves the mission's objective: the Clover Music Box. Her determination and love for Tarte enable her success, and the music box's melody pacifies the monster, allowing the Pretty Cure to purify it. She apologizes to Tarte, who forgives her. Later, when Moebius seizes the Sweets Kingdom and brainwashes its inhabitants, the Elder pushes Azukina away during the takeover, allowing her to escape unharmed. Tarte rescues her and brings her to Clover Town for safety. She then accompanies Tarte and the reformed Labyrinth member Westar to the enemy stronghold, Labyrinth, to aid the Pretty Cure in rescuing Chiffon.
During the final battle, separated from the group, Azukina and Tarte assist citizens affected by the conflict. They revitalize a lifeless child by offering donuts and distribute more to uplift others. They also help broadcast encouragement to the Pretty Cure fighting Moebius. Following Moebius's defeat, she returns to the Sweets Kingdom with Tarte and Chiffon to resume their peaceful lives. Her name originates from "azuki," referencing red beans used in desserts, fitting the Sweets Kingdom theme.
