Description
Kakeru Amao, a perpetually enthusiastic yet perpetually losing fifth-grade Live On card game player, sees his life transform after rescuing Peddal, a small dog-like Create Monster hunted by unknown pursuers. Grateful for Kakeru's protection, Peddal gifts him the unique Live Change card Tategami Wolf. This card enables Kakeru to metamorphose into a pyrokinetic, talking wolf monster embodying the Big Badass Wolf trope, complete with a prominent mane. In this form, he gains the exclusive ability to converse directly with other monsters. Previously recognized as the second-best Card Liver in his school, behind classmate Ai Kozeri, Kakeru's losses stemmed from an impulsive "Attack! Attack! Attack!" battle style and his reliance on weak, cowardly early monsters like the Sarusalsa. These creatures often froze in fear, acting only as a Power Source for stronger summons or attacking solely when victory seemed certain.

Now wielding the Tategami Wolf's power, Kakeru becomes a key member of a Power Trio alongside Tohru Makari and Ai Kozeri. His dynamic with the calm Tohru exemplifies a classic Red Oni, Blue Oni contrast. Driven by the need to shield Peddal from those seeking to exploit Create Monsters, Kakeru strives to improve his Live On skills and strategic thinking. His journey is marked by a recurring linguistic Running Gag where he frequently mixes up Japanese and English words. Kakeru's core motivation evolves: mastering Live On to become the world's best player while fiercely protecting his monster companions and friends. The Tategami Wolf transformation not only enhances his physical prowess but symbolizes his growth from a dedicated loser into a determined protector and competitor.
