Description
Ariel, commonly called Dai-sensei or "Great Teacher," serves as an instructor at Matellis, a magical school in Villiers kingdom. She holds the rank of Grand Master for the Masou-Shoujo—Magical Garment Girls—and is acknowledged as their most powerful member. Despite her youthful appearance, she exceeds 100 years in age, displaying a mature demeanor that contrasts with her childlike exterior. Her physical traits include whitish-light blue hair, golden eyes, and attire resembling a professor's uniform, typically paired with a lab coat and plaid tie.

Dai-sensei maintains a lighthearted, spacey personality, exuding calm cheerfulness even in dangerous scenarios. She rarely intervenes directly in conflicts, preferring to observe events unfold from afar. Her demeanor features a perpetual smile and eccentric thrill-seeking tendencies, yet she harbors fierce loyalty toward her students, eliminating any who harm them without hesitation.

A century before the series, she orchestrated a failed coup against Villiers' queen, Lilia Lilith. She appointed her mentor Chris to lead the rebellion, but after its collapse, Chris and other rebels were cursed as punishment. Ariel escaped consequences and publicly reformed, though she continues opposing Villiers' warmongering policies, particularly its conflicts with the Underworld.

As an instructor, she assigns missions to students—such as dispatching Haruna to procure Kyoto-made tofu, which inadvertently led to Haruna arriving in Tokyo—and tracks their progress through regular phone contact. Despite her eccentric, carefree exterior, her magical power terrifies the underworld, with demons reacting in panic at her title alone.

She engineers technology to suppress or transfer overwhelming magical abilities, like a device enabling Eucliwood Hellscythe to relinquish her powers temporarily. Her influence extends to pivotal series moments, including intervening to prevent Ayumu Aikawa from lethally attacking Kyoko in the manga adaptation.

Her relationships include mentorship ties to both Chris and Eucliwood Hellscythe—the latter having interned under her at Matellis. While her motives remain ambiguous, her actions consistently prioritize protecting students and undermining Villiers' militaristic agenda.
