Description
Asuta Soro is Hazumu Osaragi's classmate and closest male friend at Kashima High School, sharing a long history predating the series. He projects a conventionally masculine personality, contrasting Hazumu's more effeminate demeanor, and actively pushes Hazumu to confess romantic feelings to Yasuna Kamiizumi. This encouragement partly stems from Asuta's desire to preserve elements of their friendship, envisioning continued male-bonding activities regardless of the confession's outcome.

Following Hazumu's accidental gender transformation, Asuta grapples with significant internal conflict. He struggles to reconcile his deep-seated platonic bond with a burgeoning sexual attraction toward the now-female Hazumu. This turmoil manifests through behaviors like staring at Hazumu in revealing situations, such as wearing a bikini at the beach, and entertaining romantic fantasies. Simultaneously, he berates himself for these "impure" thoughts, striving to maintain their original dynamic as "best buds" by consciously using male pronouns for Hazumu and clinging to the hope that Hazumu retains some masculine identity.

Tomari Kurusu often intervenes physically, typically kicking Asuta, when his attraction becomes overt. His unresolved feelings contribute to a noticeable distancing in his friendship with Hazumu compared to their pre-transformation closeness. Throughout this period, Asuta remains the primary male figure in Hazumu's social circle, preferring female companionship despite his masculine identity.

Significant differences exist between the manga and anime adaptations. During a beach scene, the manga depicts Hazumu seeking Asuta's protection from harassing men by claiming he is her boyfriend, while the anime reverses this dynamic, showing Asuta proactively asserting Hazumu as his girlfriend.

His character arc concludes in the manga's final pages with him announcing he has found a girlfriend. When he shows a photograph, other characters note her resemblance to Hazumu, suggesting his unresolved feelings may have influenced his choice. He is consistently characterized as unlucky in romantic pursuits and frequently becomes the target of comedic misfortune.
