Description
Minami Kuramitsu hails from the powerful Kuramitsu family of Seniwa, wielding significant influence in the Galaxy Police and Galaxy Army. He is the son of Mikumo Kuramitsu and Miyuki, the brother of Mikami Kuramitsu, the father of Mitoto, the grandfather of Mihoshi and Misao, and the grandson of Washu Hakubi.
As Grand Marshall of the Galaxy Police, Minami ordered the Choubimaru warship to destroy Earth based on falsified reports of his granddaughter Mihoshi's mistreatment by Tenchi Masaki. He issued this command despite warnings about Earth's protected status and threats from his sister Mikami concerning his assets.
Following the Choubimaru incident, Minami faced disciplinary proceedings overseen by Mikami, Lady Seto, and others. He was stripped of his rank as Grand Marshall and demoted to head of maintenance at the Galaxy Police spaceship dock. He later fulfilled this role servicing Seina Yamada's ship, the Kamidake, in *Tenchi Muyo! GXP*.
Minami exhibited protectiveness towards his family, especially Mihoshi, alongside elitist attitudes. He strongly opposed his great-nephew Misao's proposal to marry Mashisu, deeming her unworthy of the Kuramitsu name. His objections were overruled after Mitoto secured family council approval and Lady Seto offered to adopt Mashisu.
Within Kuramitsu family politics, Minami served as President of the Seniwa Men's Elders Association. During a succession crisis triggered by Mikumo's apparent deathbed scene, Washu intervened, revealing herself as Mikumo's mother. She announced Mikumo's will designating Minami heir apparent to lead the Seniwa government, bypassing expectations favoring Taima Kuramitsu and inciting conflict with Taima's military factions.
Concurrently, Mikami became head of the family council, establishing dual leadership. Minami subsequently assumed Taima's former position as President of the Men's Elders Association, consolidating his status as presumptive leader pending full family recognition. He later participated in training Kenshi Masaki in *Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki* OVA5.
