Description
Nami Yamigumo, heir to a lineage of Shinto priests and exorcists, hails from the Yamigumo family. Her family maintains an underground Shinto shrine three hundred meters beneath the surface, embodying their secluded, traditional existence. Nami's father, Razan Yamigumo, initially opposed the sorcerer Gigelf Liqueur but later allied with him against the Lucifer Hawks before his death. Her elder sister, Nana Yamigumo, shares an unspecified connection with AMP sub-commander Mana Isozaki.
Serving in the Attacked Mystification Police, Nami provides a tranquil and meticulous presence, often cleaning up after teammates. She consistently wears a white kimono instead of the standard AMP uniform. Her primary duty involves detecting nearby Lucifer Hawks using her mystical senses. In combat, she wields traditional Shinto tools: ofuda inscribed with ancient kanji. These paper charms function as offensive weapons against supernatural entities, create invisible spiritual barriers, and serve as mystical sensors when placed strategically. She also carries vials of holy water that inflict continuous damage on Lucifer Hawks.
Nami commands two sacred ancestral relics: the Kirin Dagger and the White Tiger Sword. The dagger summons spiritual energy to form defensive shields or unleash fiery attacks, demanding intense concentration. The longer White Tiger Sword, acquired later in her AMP tenure, excels at penetrating targets with precision. Protective kanji enchant her robes, visible to those attuned to magical energy.
Her personality reflects deep reserve, a strong sense of duty, and an almost obsessive focus on cleanliness. She strictly adheres to Shinto priestess protocols, including dietary restrictions against red meat, abstinence from alcohol, celibacy, and a pronounced aversion to insects. Despite her quiet nature, she remains committed to the AMP's mission, balancing her spiritual heritage with her responsibilities in modern Tokyo.
Her character development features a purification ceremony where she cuts her waist-length hair to shoulder length, signifying spiritual dedication. Throughout various missions, her abilities evolve from basic detection and charm usage to mastering her family's sacred weapons, while her core traits of tranquility and duty endure.
