Description
Washu Kozuka operates undercover from the magical world, embedded as a cooking teacher and advisor to Sasami Iwakura's school Magical Girls Club, often utilizing health-related roles like nurse or health teacher for her cover. A regular human without innate magic, she was born in the human world but abandoned it due to disillusionment with humanity, finding refuge among the witches who designated her a "storyteller" – a human agent executing their directives.

Her initial mission trains magical girls to suppress their powers for seamless human integration. She recruits Sasami and others into what appears to be a cooking club, despite lacking culinary skills herself. Her role transforms drastically when the Chief Sorceress reveals plans to forcibly reshape the corrupt human world. Washu pivots to training the girls to master their abilities, ultimately defying the witches to shield her students.

Washu exhibits a rebellious, assertive nature, frequently clashing with Itoki, a messenger from the magic world. Their conflicts escalate to physical altercations, fueled partly by Itoki's jealousy over Washu's professional closeness to Daimon, another storyteller and colleague. Though Washu and Daimon collaborate closely, often operating outside official protocols to protect the girls, their relationship remains strictly platonic.

She deeply cares for the magical girls, mentoring them through personal and magical struggles. Her bond with her shape-shifting pet, Ryo-Ohki, is strained; her harsh treatment causes Ryo-Ohki to seek comfort with Sasami. Unlike other franchise iterations, this Washu possesses no scientific expertise or genius intellect. She relies on bravery and directness rather than inventions or technology, though her lab coat and health roles suggest possible background knowledge in health sciences.

Her character arc centers on evolving from a loyal enforcer of the witches' agenda into a defiant protector. This journey culminates in her active resistance against the Chief Sorceress's conspiracy, prioritizing the girls' safety above her original mission.
