Description
Manabu Yuuki entered the Space Defense Force, upholding a family legacy despite the duty-related deaths of his father and older brother. This choice caused conflict with his mother, who opposed further service. Determined, he trained on Destiny Station and joined the Sirius Platoon aboard the steam locomotive-based spacecraft *Big One* – the very unit his father once commanded.

Initially struggling with discipline, Manabu clashed with superiors like Captain Bulge and crewmate Bruce. Through demanding training and missions against threats like intergalactic terrorists, meteor storms, hostile aliens, and dimensional anomalies, he matured, learning to balance his protective instincts with SDF protocols and teamwork.

A year later, Manabu mentored new cadet Killian Black, adopting training methods once used on him. During a crisis near his home planet, he commandeered a maintenance locomotive to stop a runaway express train, preventing planetary disaster and cementing his reputation for decisive action.

His journey deepened during a rescue mission where the Sirius Platoon recovered a girl, Frell, from a dimensional pod. Learning she came from another universe and knew his father, Manabu supported pursuing her through the rift. This quest led across strange worlds and into a gravitational anomaly trapping lost SDF trains. Manabu crucially motivated the sentient *Big One* to escape by affirming the crew's shared resolve.

The search ended on Frell's planet, where Manabu confronted his father's fate. He discovered that after a battle, his father, Wataru, crash-landed and was absorbed by a malfunctioning, self-replicating machine weapon, which used his image to terrorize that universe. Inside the colossal machine, Manabu faced his father's hologram. Following an emotional plea from Wataru to end the threat, Manabu reluctantly destroyed the core AI. He retrieved his father's SDF captain hat as a memento before returning home. This marked a defining moment of closure regarding his family's legacy.

Confronting ghosts, time distortions, and parallel universes, Manabu consistently embodied duty, sacrifice, and the tension between destiny and choice. His journey transformed him from an idealistic recruit into a resilient SDF leader, honoring his family while forging his own path. He later returned to his home planet with crewmate Louise Fort Drake, presenting his recovered father's hat to his mother.
