Description
Ikkou Satonaka, a 16-year-old Buddhist monk trainee, is reluctantly enrolled at Saienji Temple by his parents under the strict supervision of his grandmother Jotoku, the temple’s head priestess. Though resentful of monastic duties he deems a waste of his youth, he reluctantly participates in manual labor and exorcisms alongside six female trainees. His laziness and poor spiritual aptitude draw frequent criticism from Jotoku, who deems him unfit for serious tasks.

A latent spiritual power lies dormant within him, awakening through intense arousal—often triggered by accidental encounters with nudity or sexual stimuli. This ability unleashes blinding light capable of mass exorcisms, but its use floods him with uncontrollable lust, forcing the nuns to violently subdue him. This cycle of accidental power activation and physical retaliation becomes a recurring comedic pattern, with fellow trainee Chitose Nanbu—harboring unspoken feelings for him—frequently delivering slapstick punishment.

Initially passive and resigned to his fate, Ikkou gradually reveals subtle growth. Despite remaining a magnet for misunderstandings and physical humor, his innate kindness and protective instincts surface during supernatural crises. Relationships with the nuns shift from one-sided friction to mutual reliance, though his dynamic with Chitose remains a volatile mix of bickering and unacknowledged attraction, marked by her tsundere tendencies.

Later arcs introduce Kazuki Kazusano, a rival nun aiming to exploit his powers, compelling Ikkou to grapple with the repercussions of his abilities. These developments weave darker themes of responsibility and self-control into the narrative. While his hormonal impulsivity and comedic missteps persist, his role evolves from mere punchline to a grudging guardian, torn between personal frustrations and the temple’s spiritual obligations.

Physically, Ikkou sports black hair, grey eyes, and an average 1.69-meter frame. His plain design underscores his everyman status, contrasting the stylized appearances of the female cast. Though his past remains unexplored, his persistent complaints about missing typical teenage experiences hint at an unfulfilled yearning for normalcy beneath his monastic facade.
