Description
Teppei Takamiya hails from Kamui Island in northern Japan. Orphaned, he lived with his older brother Kotaro until Kotaro departed to study robotics in Berlin. Teppei remained, working a farm and caring for animals, demonstrating an innate ability to communicate with and tame wildlife since childhood. During Kotaro's absence, Teppei discovered an injured warrior named Karen during a fierce winter storm. He rescued her, hiding her in a cave. When confronted by the Machine Empire soldier Metal Face demanding her location, Teppei refused and was left mortally wounded. Karen saved him by performing a blood transfusion, sharing her own blood. She later trained Teppei as a warrior and, before departing, gifted him the Messiah Fist, a powerful gauntlet enhancing physical strength and functioning as a versatile weapon.
Five years later, Teppei reunited with Kotaro at a robotics convention in Mechatopia, China, only to witness Kotaro's abduction by the Machine Empire. Pursuing his brother's captors to their Gobi Desert stronghold known as "The Area," Teppei was attacked again by Metal Face and left bleeding in a junkyard. His spilled blood revived X, a discarded mechanical steed (B't) resembling a winged horse, once one of the Empire's most potent combat units. Initially reluctant, X bonded with Teppei and aided his escape from Empire forces, marking the start of their partnership. Teppei's primary goal expanded from rescuing Kotaro to confronting the Empire's broader threat to humanity.
Teppei's combat relies on the Messiah Fist, firing grappling wires, generating energy shields, and unleashing fire-based attacks like "Break On." His bond with X later unlocked the "Shining Knuckle," a unified technique channeling their combined energy to destroy opponents. After X suffered severe damage in battle, the Spirit General Hokuto repaired and upgraded both the Messiah Fist and X's systems. These enhancements allowed the Messiah Fist to emit lasers and activated X's latent wings for high-speed flight. Teppei also manifested "Battle Gear," armor generated through his bond with X that provided environmental protection and amplified his physical capabilities. As his journey continued, he awakened the "Power of the Sun," a radiant energy symbolizing his role as a beacon of hope against the Empire's tyranny.
In the OVA continuation "B't X Neo," Teppei advanced deeper into the Machine Empire's territory, confronting its leaders and the rogue B't Raphael. His resolve influenced allies like the Spirit Generals—Karen, Ron, Fou, and Hokuto—to question their loyalty to the Empire and join his cause. During this arc, he engaged adversaries like the Demon General Quatro, resolving conflicts tied to their pasts, and encountered original characters like Dr. Lisa Maria Stein, who assisted Kotaro in neutralizing Raphael. The OVA diverged significantly from the manga in its final episodes, depicting Teppei's ultimate confrontation with the Machine Emperor and Raphael. This culminated in a battle emphasizing collective sacrifice and hope, where Teppei's "Power of the Sun" became instrumental in saving humanity; the fates of Teppei and his allies remained ambiguous.
Throughout his journey, Teppei evolved from a hot-headed youth focused solely on his brother's rescue to a strategic leader championing humanity's survival. His determination and empathy consistently challenged the Empire's ideology, turning enemies into allies. Key relationships—his mentorship under Karen, his brotherly bond with Kotaro, and his profound partnership with X—reinforced his core philosophy: protecting others through unwavering courage and compassion.
