Genthru, alias the Bomber, leads the Bomber group alongside members Sub and Bara. Hired by billionaire Battera to conquer Greed Island and claim its prize, Genthru infiltrated the game and joined Nickes' player alliance. Over five years, he maintained a double life as a cooperative player while secretly planting bombs on every alliance member. Simultaneously, he anonymously killed other players to cultivate fear, cementing his reputation as the enigmatic Bomber. His background prior to entering Greed Island is undisclosed in all official media.
Tall and lanky, Genthru possesses a pointed chin, spiky blond hair, and orange eyes. Angular glasses and a distinctive seafoam green cloak decorated with cross-shaped symbols, often paired with a light blue scarf, complete his sharp, sinister appearance.
Genthru initially adopts a gentle, cooperative facade, warning newcomers like Gon and Killua about the Bomber to earn trust. He discards this persona upon revealing his identity, exposing his ruthless, self-serving nature and complete lack of compassion for anyone outside his team. He takes pleasure in killing and orchestrates mass murder without hesitation, exemplified by detonating the bombs implanted on Nickes' alliance, killing nearly all members. A calm and analytical strategist, he avoids recklessness, carefully assessing risks and countering threats like Tsezguerra's guerrilla tactics. However, deviations from his plans—such as Gon preemptively countering his abilities—provoke visible anger or fear. His sole loyalty extends only to Sub and Bara; he insists on sharing risks equally and bargains fiercely for Bara's healing after a fight.
Genthru's Conjurer Nen abilities focus on explosives. "Little Flower" generates small, targeted explosions fatal at close range, activated by touching an object or person and uttering "Bomber." His signature technique, "Countdown," involves touching a victim, saying "Bomber," and fully explaining his abilities to plant an invisible bomb linked to the target's heartbeat. The bomb detonates only when Genthru, Sub, and Bara touch thumbs and say "Release." Deactivation requires physical contact with Genthru and the phrase "I caught the Bomber." He augments these with enhanced strength, durability, and combat skills, overpowering Gon in direct confrontations despite Gon's Enhancement-type Nen. His strategic intellect enables him to exploit Greed Island's mechanics, monopolizing cards like "Angel's Breath" via "Clone" and utilizing items like "Risky Dice" or "Tax Collector's Gauntlet" to steal cards.
Within the Greed Island arc, Genthru's actions drive the central conflict. After betraying Nickes' alliance and seizing their cards, he pursues the remaining cards through coercion, kidnapping players, and ambushing rivals. He murders six members of Gon's alliance and demands "Plot of Beach" from Tsezguerra, provoking Gon's direct challenge. Their final confrontation occurs in a forest: Gon lures Genthru into a pit, traps him with a boulder, and defeats him with a Jajanken attack after sacrificing both hands to negate "Little Flower." Following his defeat, the Nen exorcist Abengane finds Genthru, deactivates his Nen with the phrase "I caught the Bomber," and leaves him immobilized. Genthru's fate beyond this event remains unaddressed in subsequent media.
The Bombers operate as equals, with Genthru serving as the "main man" and Sub and Bara as his "wingmen." Their dynamic emphasizes mutual care, demonstrated by Genthru's insistence on healing Bara, contrasting sharply with their otherwise merciless methods. No spin-offs, movies, or other media expand on Genthru's role beyond this arc.
