He commissioned scientist Ohji to develop self-replicating robots capable of "becoming gods," resulting in Casshern, Dio, and Leda. When the project failed to achieve true procreation, he repurposed them as elite assassins. He later ordered Casshern to assassinate Luna, a figure believed to offer salvation. This act inadvertently triggered the Ruin—a cataclysmic event causing worldwide decay and the collapse of his empire.

Following the Ruin, a rusted but still formidable Braiking Boss wandered the decaying world. Re-encountering Casshern reignited his ambition; he revealed Casshern’s role in Luna’s murder to torment him. He observed Dio’s battles, offering tactical advice to strengthen him, and eliminated the weakened warrior Vulcan. Upon Luna’s resurgence, he initially allied with her to end the Ruin, serving as her guardian. However, he ultimately rejected her false promises of eternal life, recognizing his own culpability in the world’s suffering. In his final act, he confronted Casshern once more, urging him to kill Luna and accepting that his path to atonement required the end of his own rule.

The *Casshern: Robot Hunter* OVA reimagined him as "Black King-1," an environmental-restoration android who rationalized his conquest of humanity as necessary for planetary salvation. This version murdered Dr. Azuma and transferred the scientist’s consciousness into his own systems, while imprisoning Midori Azuma’s consciousness within a robotic swan. His empire exhibited strong fascist overtones, with humanoid "Neoroid" elites commanding mechanized forces.
