Description
Komachi Ono is a police officer in the Transport Department of Katsushika Police Headquarters, appearing solely in the anime adaptation. Hailing from the fictional rural town of Oinaka in Kanagawa Prefecture, she makes frequent trips to visit her family, who mistakenly assume her colleague Kankichi Ryotsu is her romantic partner due to persistent misunderstandings. Her countryside upbringing instilled knowledge of local traditions and a competitive streak, often fueling challenges against Ryotsu, whom she deems a rival.

She sports short purple hair with bangs, black eyes, and the standard female police uniform: a blue coat, white shirt with a black tie, knee-length skirt, and a green armband with white stripes. Her summer attire switches to short sleeves. Energetic and hot-headed, she occasionally demonstrates superhuman strength, such as lifting patrol cars or hurling heavy objects during clashes with Ryotsu.

Her closest confidante is colleague Naoko Seisho, her best friend and roommate at the policewomen’s dorm. The pair often mock Ryotsu as a “caveman” and co-author a newspaper column ranking male officers. Initially, both Komachi and Naoko harbor a crush on Keiichi Nakagawa, with Komachi trying—and failing—to present him as a suitor to her parents, inadvertently cementing their belief in her bond with Ryotsu. Her dynamic with Ryotsu shifts from outright hostility to a nuanced mix of rivalry and unspoken affection.

A pivotal moment arises in episode 120, where a staged wedding reception, orchestrated under family and social pressure, hints at latent romantic tension toward Ryotsu. Later episodes trace a gradual thaw in her antagonism: she begins using his first name and partners with him on tasks like dressmaking. Yet their rivalry endures, frequently erupting into physical comedy.

Her character evolves visually after episode 6, swapping designs with Naoko to blur their initial distinctions. By the series’ end, she reclassifies Nakagawa as a platonic friend, discarding a framed photo of them. Her role expands beyond comedy, occasionally unveiling vulnerability, such as guilt when Ryotsu faces disciplinary action.

Notable details include a February 21 birthday, measurements of 83C-58-88 cm, a fondness for soccer and fashion, and an aversion to raw fish. Her hometown’s name, Oinaka—a pun meaning “middle of nowhere”—echoes her rural roots.
