TV-Series
Description
Drill Robo leads the Drill Team in the Yellow Gears unit of Machine Robo Rescue, tackling extreme emergencies like earthquakes, landslides, structural collapses, and underwater crises. He transforms from a heavy-duty drilling vehicle into an 11-centimeter-tall humanoid robot. Combining with Bulldozer Robo Supporter unlocks Hyper Drill Robo mode, enabling specialized attacks: Finger Flash, Drill Attack with rapid head rotation, and Power Finish.

His personality radiates enthusiasm and friendliness, occasionally tipping into over-eagerness—reminiscent of a jovial sumo wrestler. This contrasts with his initially hesitant Robo Master, Daichi Hayami. Drill Robo’s steadfast encouragement helps Daichi conquer self-doubt during critical missions, like rescuing cadets from a flooded subway tunnel.

He frequently spearheads major operations: physically buttressing Egypt’s Saqqara pyramid against Gura Gorro assaults, reinforcing landslide-threatened structures, and diverting volcanic lava flows. His strength proves vital in combined formations like Machine Commander Robo alongside Fire Robo and Police Robo.

Despite his prowess, a non-waterproof design causes recurring malfunctions during aquatic missions, such as attempts to join Submarine Robo in the ocean. His zeal extends beyond rescues, like when he and Supporter Robos played costumed villains during a film shoot.

Narrative arcs highlight his partnership’s evolution. When Daichi temporarily resigns to manage Hayami Heavy Industries, Drill Robo reactivates under his command during factory attacks, prompting Daichi’s permanent return to duty. He fosters team cohesion, aiding Submarine Robo’s integration despite operational friction and later discussing roster needs with fellow Leader Robos after Jay and V Stealth Robo join the organization.
