Description
Aya Fujimiya, originally named Ran Fujimiya, is a central figure within an assassin group operating under the guise of florists. He has red hair (violet-red in later appearances) and lilac eyes, stands 178 cm tall, and has blood type A. Born on July 4, his primary motivation stems from a traumatic past event. On his sister Aya Fujimiya's 16th birthday, their parents were murdered by Reiji Takatori, who then detonated their home. Trapped in the wreckage, Ran witnessed Takatori deliberately run over his sister, leaving her comatose. This event drove him to vow vengeance and assume his sister's name as a constant reminder.
He joined Kritiker to fund his sister's medical care and pursue Takatori. During early training, he operated under the codename "Rook" in the demolition unit Crashers before becoming a core Weiss member codenamed "Abyssinian." His weapon is the katana "Shion," and his symbolic flower is the rose. Emotionally restrained, he rarely speaks unless necessary but exhibits intense fury confronting Takatori, once screaming his name and flinging his sword at the latter's escaping helicopter. He wears one earring originally bought for his sister as a keepsake.
Balancing daytime florist duties with covert assassination, he initially displays cold efficiency during missions, showing no remorse for targets. Glimpses of empathy surface, like returning a ball to a blind girl named Miyu and anonymously sending her flowers after her brother's death. His interactions reveal a protective instinct rooted in his sister's tragedy, such as protecting Sakura from organ thieves. He frequently visits his comatose sister, updating her on his progress against Takatori and leaving pink flowers.
His character evolves from stoic isolation to greater openness. Depicted at age 27 with longer violet-red hair, he demonstrates increased approachability, offering guidance to newer teammates like Sena Izumi and interacting supportively with students at Koua Academy. He forms significant bonds, notably developing a partnership with Ken despite initial friction, and acts as a protector to children like Sakura, Taiyou, and Yuki. His foundational drive for revenge remains, but he integrates loyalty to his team and broader protective instincts into his actions, such as defending Sena from threats at the academy.
His arc culminates with his sister's awakening. Her unexplained lack of aging during the coma attracts antagonists seeking immortality. After rescuing her from a ritual orchestrated by Esset, he ensures her safety but chooses to distance himself completely from her life, leaving her under Sakura's care at the flower shop. This self-imposed exile underscores his belief that his violent path renders him unfit for her restored future, though he implicitly entrusts her to his allies.
