Libra Dohko serves Athena as a Gold Saint across multiple Holy Wars. He and Aries Shion stand as the sole survivors of the 18th-century battle against Hades. Entrusted with guarding the seal imprisoning Hades' 108 Specters at China's Five Peaks of Mount Lu, Dohko maintained this vigil for 243 years. Athena granted him the Misopetha-Menos technique, slowing his metabolism to roughly one heartbeat per minute. This made each year pass as only a single day of aging, preserving him chronologically at 18 years old while his body appeared elderly. During his watch at Mount Lu, he raised the orphan Shunrei and trained Dragon Shiryu as his primary student, teaching martial techniques including the Rozan Shō Ryū Ha and Rozan Hyakuryū Ha. His instruction emphasized the balance of judgment and combat, reflecting the scales of his Libra constellation. Dohko distanced himself from the Sanctuary, suspecting Pope Shion had been replaced by an imposter. When Hades' revival shattered the seal in the modern era, Dohko journeyed to the Sanctuary. Facing the resurrected Shion—now serving Hades—Dohko struggled in his aged form. He deliberately halted the Misopetha-Menos, reverting to his youthful physique and combat power to fight Shion as an equal. This transformation restored his prime but irreversibly prevented him from returning to his elderly state. In the ensuing conflict, Dohko guided Shiryu and the Bronze Saints, instructing them to awaken the Eighth Sense to traverse the Underworld alive. He later participated in the forbidden Athena Exclamation during the battle against Virgo Shaka. His final act united the spirits of all twelve Gold Saints to destroy the Wailing Wall barring Elysion, sacrificing his life. In the separate continuity spin-off *Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas*, Dohko appears as a young Gold Saint in the 18th-century war. He recruits and trains Pegasus Tenma, investigates Specter activity in Italy, and sacrifices himself to delay Hades (incarnated as Alone) so others can escape. His body, pierced by Hades' sword, is later recovered and healed on Kanon Island. In *Saint Seiya: Next Dimension*, Dohko is depicted as a teenage Bronze Saint promoted to Libra Gold Saint before the 18th-century war. He and Shion attempt to stop Hades' vessel, Alone, but are thwarted by Pegasus Tenma. During this mission, he encounters his future pupil Shiryu, who time-traveled to aid Athena. His symbolic animal, the tiger, contrasts with Shiryu's dragon, reflecting the Chinese duality motif central to their characters.
