Description
Megatron commands the Decepticons with an insatiable hunger for conquest and power, relentlessly seeking to subjugate any superior force, bend it to his will, and absorb its strength. He demands absolute loyalty from his troops, crushing opposition and insubordination with savage violence. Yet he cloaks this barbarism in regal militaristic formality, addressing close subordinates as "gentlemen" with calculated politeness and intelligent speech. Self-aware of his own madness, he presents himself as a sophisticated, ruthless tyrant. His singular weakness is an all-consuming obsession with archrival Optimus Prime; without Prime as his ultimate challenge, he perceives the universe as devoid of meaningful conflict. This obsession triggers deep depression when Prime is seemingly destroyed, robbing him of his destined final battle.

Millions of years before the main conflict, Megatron ignited the Cybertronian civil war by betraying a truce. He launched a brutal assault to capture the power-enhancing Mini-Cons as they fled Cybertron, crippling their escape ship and causing it to crash on Earth's moon, scattering its cargo across the planet. During this era, he also rescued the Autobot Wheeljack from death, securing the warrior's loyalty. In 2010, detecting a reactivated Mini-Con signal on Earth, Megatron led a contingent there. He rediscovered his former Mini-Con partner, Leader-1, on the lunar debris, regaining enhanced power through "Powerlinxing," though he initially struggled to control the amplified abilities.

On Earth, Megatron relentlessly hunted the scattered Mini-Cons for their strategic value. His campaign included capturing human children allied with the Autobots, employing ruses and brute force to acquire Mini-Con panels. He successfully obtained the components of the legendary weapons: the Star Saber, Skyboom Shield, and Requiem Blaster. Through manipulation and betrayal—exploiting the mercenary Sideways and his lieutenant Starscream—he forged these artifacts into the Hydra Cannon. He fired it at Earth for planetary destruction, but Optimus Prime intercepted the blast, sacrificing himself. Prime's death plunged Megatron into profound depression, only lifting when Mini-Con powers resurrected Prime.

Exposure to enhanced Mini-Con energies subsequently transformed Megatron into Galvatron, granting greater power and renewed zeal for conquest. He returned to Cybertron, swiftly overwhelming its defenses. However, the emergence of the planet-consuming Unicron—a threat he initially dismissed—forced an uneasy alliance with the Autobots. Galvatron entered Unicron's core alongside Optimus Prime, intending a final confrontation after the crisis. When their battle reignited Unicron, Galvatron chose self-sacrifice, hurling himself into the chaos god's maw to end the cycle of hatred fueling it. Both were seemingly destroyed.

Galvatron's consciousness survived within Unicron's decaying body. Over the next decade, he siphoned energon gathered by the alien Alpha Quintesson's Terrorcons, facilitating his physical rebirth. He seized control of Unicron's remains, aiming to wield the planet-eater as the ultimate weapon. After manipulating events to amass sufficient energon, he fully reactivated Unicron, only for the entity's consciousness to possess him. Though Optimus Prime later purged Unicron's influence temporarily, Galvatron became repossessed while attempting to destroy Unicron's spark. To deny Unicron victory, he flew into a nascent sun, igniting it and apparently perishing again.

A decade later, the collapse of that star created a black hole, enabling Galvatron's escape. He merged his body with remnants of Unicron's shattered form, augmenting his power with the dark god's residual energies. Stealing a map to the reality-altering Cyber Planet Keys, he plotted to use their power—focused through the Omega Lock—to accelerate the universe's collapse into the black hole, remaking reality in his own image. This scheme involved recruiting agents across multiple planets to locate the keys, but betrayal by Starscream and repeated failures to secure the artifacts thwarted his ambitions. His ultimate fate remains undocumented within the available records.
