Booze Man, also known as Beer Gramps, is an elderly Takunaha beer vendor whose unorthodox experiment saves Gugu’s life after a catastrophic accident. By replacing the boy’s ruined organs with an alcohol-storing pouch, he grants Gugu a combustible physiology, weaponizing flammable liquor against threats like the Nokkers. Driven by eccentric curiosity and a mix of selfish ambition and lingering guilt, Booze Man initially views Gugu as a test subject to study alcohol’s biological effects. Regret surfaces when Gugu briefly abandons him, prompting a shift in their dynamic. Over time, their bond transforms into familial devotion, culminating in Booze Man painstakingly crafting a replacement mask for Gugu over a year—a tangible testament to his growing responsibility. His sharp wit and irreverence align him romantically with Pioran, a kindred spirit. Interactions with Fushi, the immortal, evolve from wary skepticism to collaboration during a four-year peace period. Booze Man nudges Fushi toward domestic skills over warfare, subtly shaping the eternal being’s grasp of humanity. Posthumously, his influence lingers through fragmented memories and Fushi’s temporary impersonation of him to aid allies. Though his experiments originated in reckless curiosity, they inadvertently forge Gugu’s resilience, framing Booze Man’s legacy as a morally ambiguous yet pivotal force in intertwining redemption, consequence, and unexpected heroism.
