Description
Issa Ogiwara, president and CEO of Japan's prominent Ogiwara Foods Corporation, is the older brother of Sayu Ogiwara. His family history includes significant parental strife: their father repeatedly engaged in infidelity before abandoning the family for another woman, an event that profoundly impacted household dynamics. When Sayu ran away from home following intense conflict with their mother—who blamed Sayu for negative attention after her friend Yuuko Masaka’s suicide—Issa provided initial support. He gave her 300,000 yen and tacitly endorsed her departure. Approximately two weeks after Sayu failed to return, Issa personally initiated a search, eventually locating her in Tokyo through investigative efforts.
He discreetly observed Sayu from his luxury vehicle near the convenience store where she worked, initially hesitating to approach. Later, he visited Yoshida’s apartment, identified himself, and declared his intent to bring Sayu back to Hokkaido. During interactions with Yoshida, Issa expressed gratitude for the care provided to his sister and demonstrated respect for Yoshida’s protective stance. When discussing Sayu’s return with her, he acknowledged their mother’s superficial concerns about social appearances rather than genuine worry, highlighting the strained maternal relationship. To accommodate Sayu’s need for closure, he negotiated a one-week grace period before requiring her return.
Accompanying Sayu and Yoshida back to Hokkaido, Issa facilitated their visit to Asahikawa Dairoku High School to address past traumas linked to Yuuko’s death. At the Ogiwara household, he joined Yoshida in confronting their mother about her emotional neglect and abuse toward Sayu; both men prostrated themselves to emphasize the urgency of maternal responsibility, contributing to a pivotal shift in family dynamics. Physically, Issa is depicted as handsome with dark brown hair swept to one side, brown eyes, and a well-built stature, typically dressed in formal business attire like a black suit. His name combines the kanji for "one" (一) and "sudden, sound of the wind" (颯).
