Description
Mamoru Amami, originally named Latio, is a cosmic being born to Cain, leader of the Green Planet in the Trinary Solar System, and his wife. He possessed the innate power to purify out-of-control Zonder metal, a power that enabled the creation of the G-Stone energy source. Though the Red Planet replicated G-Stones, the Zonder forces and their leader Z-Master overwhelmed the Trinary System's defenses, mechanizing its planets. Latio, the sole survivor, escaped via the mechanical lion Galeon within the Galeon Comet.
Galeon landed near Earth's North Pole in 1997. Discovered as an infant by Isamu and Ai Amami, they adopted him, naming him Mamoru ("to protect"), and raised him unaware of his origins. His sealed memories resided in a pendant left by Galeon, stored by his parents without understanding its significance.
In 2005, during a school trip to Garbage Island, Mamoru encountered the Zonder EI-02. Witnessing Gai Shishioh (Cyborg Guy) nearly crush the Zonder core awakened his latent abilities: his hair glowed green, energy wings sprouted, and he purified the core, reverting it to a human. This drew the attention of the Earth defense organization Gutsy Geoid Guard (GGG), who recruited him as a special agent. Mamoru accepted, leaving his ordinary life to fight the Zonder threat.
His journey revealed his heritage during conflicts with the 31 Machine Primevals. GGG accessed Galeon's databanks using his pendant, restoring partial memories. Later, during a battle at Jupiter, a projection of Cain restored his full infancy memories. Post-conflict, Mamoru departed Earth with Galeon to the Trinary System's remnants. Using a G-Crystal to restore Galeon's original programming against the 11 Planetary Masters of Sol, he created duplicates of himself and Galeon, stole the Pas-Q Machine backbone circuit, and fled to Earth via the Galeoria Comet. Exhausted near Jupiter, he encountered Ikumi Kaidou and the J-Ark, entrusting them with the Pas-Q Machine before being captured. He later rejoined GGG to confront the Sol Masters, including Pei La Cain, a replica of his father.
A decade later, Mamoru served as a full member of the rebranded Gutsy Global Guard (GGG Blue). Now in his twenties, he co-piloted the mecha GaoGaiGo with his close friend and genetic counterpart, Ikumi Kaidou. Despite his age, his youthful appearance often led to him being mistaken for a teenager. He married his childhood friend Hana Hatsuno, GGG's Mobile Unit Lead Operator, and they had a child named Tsubasa. Mamoru retained his signature "Wa-ha!" exclamation and compassionate nature but faced new challenges, including concealing the resemblance between the enemy King of Ruin and Guy Shishioh's Genesic GaoGaiGar from GGG.
Physically, Mamoru appears as a small boy with green eyes, dark hair, and long bangs, typically dressed in a yellow T-shirt, red shorts, and blue-and-white boots. As an adult, he retains similar features but wears GGG uniforms. His personality blends childlike exuberance with adult seriousness; he exclaims "Wa-ha!" like his adoptive father and harbored a longstanding crush on Hana. He excels at the robot-fighting game "Raji-Robo" and prioritizes protecting others, even at personal cost. His abilities include purifying Zonder/Primeval cores, generating energy shields, atmospheric and interplanetary flight, technopathically repairing GS-Ride machines instantly, and extending his shielding to enable others' survival in space.
Key relationships include his bond with Gai Shishioh, whom he views as an older brother; his trusting partnership with Ikumi Kaidou; his marriage to Hana; and his enduring connection to his adoptive parents, Isamu and Ai.
