Description
HyoRyu, designated G.B.R.-02 and alternatively spelled HyouRyuu, is a Brave robot powered by a G-Stone and serves in the GGG organization's Mobile Unit. Developed from data extracted from Galeon's terminal, the unit activated at 14:25:11 on a day in 2004, making it two seconds older than its sibling, EnRyuu. Both artificial intelligences underwent a six-month education and nurturing period. This lengthy development led future Brave robots to utilize either copied AIs from the Ryuu brothers or AIs based on pre-existing human personalities to save time.
In robot mode, HyoRyu features a super monocoque construction, standing 20.5 meters tall and weighing 240 tons. It is powered by a G-Drive engine with a maximum output of 225,000 kW and uses a rear jump thruster producing 1,000 tons of thrust. Its transformation, called a System Change, takes 21.78 seconds—comprising a 3.552-second program drive and a 2.034-second barrier system operation. This process enables a semi-vehicle mode where the legs transform, leaving the upper torso in robot form to operate weapons. The vehicle mode is an 18.5-meter-long, 5-meter-wide truck capable of carrying two passengers, cruising at 300 km/h with a boosted instantaneous speed of 450 km/h.
Primary armament includes a Freezing Gun, an energy-inverting type freezing device Mk II-A stored in the left leg. This weapon becomes the right forearm when combining into ChouRyuuJin. It operates at an energy vanishing rate of 21,000 kW, expandable to 36,000 kW for a restricted three-second emergency period. Additional weapons are a Crane Tonfa that doubles as a Freezing Rifle, a Chest Thriller that releases adjustable freezing winds for offense or firefighting, and an optional Pencil Launcher firing Stiffening Projectiles. These ceramic composite rounds mix A-Blue and B-Red liquids to form a stiffening gel, immobilizing targets or preventing structural collapses.
HyoRyu's personality is calm and calculating, contrasting with EnRyuu's flamboyance, leading to occasional sibling bickering. The unit deploys from Bay Tower Base's underwater tunnels or via the Triple Decked Flying Carrier's Mirror Catapult for long-range missions.
A pivotal moment occurred during an assault by EI-06. Initially, HyoRyu and EnRyuu could not perform a full System Change into robot mode due to Earth's technological limits compared to the Green Planet. They were deployed in vehicle mode for rescue operations. The ability to transform unlocked during this battle when Mamoru's heightened emotions, upon witnessing a Zonder Robo attack, provided a power boost. This new capability allowed them to slow EI-06 and enable its defeat.
After this event, HyoRyu fought in numerous battles against the Zonderians. A key achievement was the first formation of ChouRyuuJin when the SympaRate between HyoRyu and EnRyuu reached 100% during a mission to save GaoGaiGar from an explosion caused by EI-07's oil-filled body. They successfully deployed the Eraser Head to neutralize the threat. HyoRyu also contributed to defeating EI-01 as part of ChouRyuuJin.
In a later conflict, HyoRyu and EnRyuu executed an ultimate technique called Supernova. They dialed their chest knobs to "Level Infinity" to unleash full power at point-blank range, a zero-proximity attack used to defeat P-Vater.
