Description
Mitsuko Kōmyōji is the daughter of robotics scientist Dr. Nobuhiko Kōmyōji and older sister of Masaru Kōmyōji. Her mother married Dr. Kōmyōji under orders from Professor Gill to spy on his work, abandoning the family after Masaru's birth. This left Mitsuko responsible for her brother's care while their father immersed himself in his laboratory.
Her life shifted dramatically when an explosion destroyed Dr. Kōmyōji's lab, resulting in his disappearance. Searching the rubble, Mitsuko discovered a data disk revealing her father's creation of a humanoid android. She soon encountered the disoriented Jiro carrying a red guitar. Witnessing Jiro transform into Kikaider to battle a DARK organization robot, she learned he was her father's creation designed to protect her family. Initially, Mitsuko harbored deep resentment toward Jiro, blaming him for her father's presumed death and labeling him a "mad machine" after Professor Gill's flute caused Jiro to lose control and attack her. This incident cemented her distrust of robots.
Over time, Mitsuko's feelings evolved from animosity to romantic affection as Jiro aided her investigation into her parents' past. Their journey uncovered her mother's forced espionage for Gill and unresolved love for the professor, culminating in her suicide after disclosing DARK's headquarters location to Mitsuko. Mitsuko actively supported Jiro, repairing him when damaged and steadfastly maintaining his innocence after DARK framed him for Dr. Kōmyōji's apparent murder. She later made the harrowing discovery that her father's brain had been transplanted into the antagonist android Hakaider.
Following DARK's destruction and her father's restoration, Mitsuko awaited Jiro's promised return, though he never reappeared. She clung to hope for their reunion despite his absence. In the continuity of the 2014 film *Kikaider Reboot*, Mitsuko appears as Dr. Kōmyōji's daughter but exhibits wariness toward Jiro, with no indication of romantic involvement. Her character arc in this adaptation concludes with her vowing to rebuild Jiro after his sacrificial defeat of Hakaider.
