Description
Roddy Shuffle is one of thirteen children evacuated from the human colony on Clayad during an attack by hostile aliens called the Astrogaters. Separated from their parents in the chaos, they escape aboard the training combat spacecraft Janous. Using the ship's defenses, including advanced VIFAM aerospace combat mecha, they reach Belwick seeking refuge, only to find its colony destroyed. Facing isolation, Roddy and the others learn to pilot the VIFAM mecha and resolve to journey back to Earth independently.

Throughout their voyage, Roddy battles repeatedly against the Astrogaters, later identified as Kuktonians. The group encounters a damaged alien vessel piloted by a friendly Astrogater, who reveals one child among them is an alien. They also learn their parents were captured and taken to Tuat, an artificial satellite orbiting the Kuktonian homeworld Kukto. Roddy contributes to subsequent efforts to reach Tuat, sometimes aided by Earth's military. During this mission, one child is captured; this event leads to contact with a Kuktonian rebel faction, which assists in the escape of human prisoners. After freeing the prisoners, the group discovers their parents were relocated to Kukto itself, prompting a perilous rescue operation on the planet.

In the OVA "[Kate no Kioku] Namida no Dakkai Sakusen!!", set a year later during a Kuktonian peace ceremony, Roddy is among the children invited by the new rebel-led Kuktonian government. When a hostage situation involving Kate Hathaway and her father erupts, Roddy demonstrates tactical proficiency by coordinating a counter-operation with Scott Heyward to neutralize the threat and secure the hostages' release. This operation culminates in restoring Kate's erased memories, facilitating an emotional reconciliation with her father, underscoring Roddy's continued role in post-conflict challenges.
