Description
Yuuichirou Tajima is a Nishiura High School student and essential third baseman on the baseball team, previously serving as cleanup hitter and acting as reserve catcher. A baseball prodigy from his time with the competitive Arakawa Sea Breams in middle school, he claims he eventually hits any pitch he faces, demonstrating exceptional adaptability and observational skills. His small stature limits his power hitting, making home runs difficult despite technical proficiency, impacting his cleanup role. Tajima chose Nishiura High for its proximity to home, ensuring he wouldn't be left behind again after a family incident where he was forgotten overnight with his pets; this allows him to respond quickly if family needs medical attention.

Standing at 164 cm (approximately 5'4") and weighing 53 kg, he is the team's shortest player. Tajima has short, spiked black hair, brown eyes, a tan complexion, and freckles across the bridge of his nose. His expressions typically reflect his jovial, energetic nature, often smiling, and he possesses a natural blush under his eyes.

His personality is outgoing, charismatic, and unfiltered. Tajima exhibits natural shamelessness, discussing sensitive topics like masturbation or stripping without hesitation, prompting reprimands from teammates. Despite poor academics, he shows remarkable focus and intelligence during baseball, recalling game scores perfectly after one viewing. Off-field hyperactivity and occasional inappropriateness contrast his game concentration. He forms strong bonds easily, particularly with pitcher Ren Mihashi, accommodating his shyness and stuttering effortlessly. Tajima frequently interprets Mihashi's unclear statements for others, displaying patience. Both share a love for baseball and academic struggles, often discussing food and sport. Tajima displays a protective, brotherly instinct toward Mihashi.

Relationships reveal more: a rivalry with Hanai stems from Hanai's inferiority complex, as Tajima outperforms him in most areas except height and home-run capability, intensifying when Hanai becomes cleanup hitter and highlighting Tajima's unspoken insecurities about his size. With catcher Takaya Abe, Tajima feels competitive for the catcher position, while Abe envies Tajima's effortless understanding of Mihashi. Tajima lives with his great-grandfather, grandparents, parents, two older brothers, two older sisters, a sister-in-law, and multiple pets. His daily routine includes brief commutes to school but extended returns due to frequent visits to Mihashi's home.

On-field, Tajima's versatility extends beyond third base; he substitutes as catcher when needed and adapts to other positions. His baseball acumen includes strategic insights like deciphering opponents' pitching patterns to aid base stealing. While arm strength and reflexes are assets, his size occasionally limits defensive reach. At bat, he prioritizes contact and precision over power. Tajima thrives on challenges, expressing enthusiasm rather than frustration facing difficult pitches. His development involves acknowledging physical constraints while maintaining confidence in his skills, reflecting gradual maturity without losing inherent optimism.
