Description
Baron Alberto resides in Alamos Town, Sinnoh, wielding community influence under his ambiguous title. He exhibits pronounced vanity, chauvinism, and self-importance, frequently assigning blame without evidence—most notably targeting the Mythical Pokémon Darkrai for town disturbances. He rigidly maintains his judgments, dismissing objections, especially when external validation inflates his ego, such as attention from Team Rocket disguised as reporters.

His character is further revealed through persistent, unreciprocated romantic pursuit of Alice, the local tour guide and music student. Despite her clear rejections and preference for scientist Tonio, Alberto continues his advances unabated. This fuels his hostility towards Tonio, whom he consistently insults and views as a rival, creating recurring tension in their interactions.

A pivotal event occurred during the clash of Legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia. Confronting Darkrai in the town square, Alberto's Lickilicky was struck by Darkrai's Dark Void attack, falling into a nightmare. Simultaneously, Palkia's spatial distortions manifested physically. The combination caused Alberto to physically transform into a Lickilicky, while his Pokémon assumed his human form—a direct result of Lickilicky's nightmare about becoming Alberto. After Dark Void's effects faded, Alberto reverted. This incident earned him the nickname "Baron Beroberto" in Japanese media, referencing Lickilicky's Japanese name and the pun on "Alberto."

Alberto owns a Lickilicky as his primary Pokémon. During an initial investigation into damaged pillars in Godey's garden, he commanded it to attack Darkrai with Hyper Beam, which missed. This same Lickilicky was central to his transformation. After reverting, Alberto organized trainers to capture Darkrai, offering rewards, but his role diminished to a bystander during the climactic Dialga-Palkia battle.

Later appearances show continuity in his traits. He pilots a hot air balloon while courting Alice in the ending credits of *Arceus and the Jewel of Life*. He and his Lickilicky also make a cameo within Alamos Town in *Pokémon: I Choose You!*, which exists in a separate continuity. In the manga adaptation of *The Rise of Darkrai*, his role largely aligns with his film portrayal, though his romantic interest in Alice is absent.
