Mathieu Moreau

Description
Mathieu Moreau is a Belgian actor primarily known for his extensive work in voice acting, particularly in the dubbing of Japanese animation into French. Trained at the Institut national supérieur des arts du spectacle (INSAS) and also a practitioner of fencing and stage combat, he began his career in Belgium before becoming more active in France. In addition to acting, he is a musician and was the guitarist for a rock-metal group called Doctor & Nurse.

Moreau has lent his voice to a wide array of characters in numerous popular anime series. He is the French voice of Wataru Takagi in the Detective Conan franchise, including the film Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween. He voices the iconic space pirate Captain Harlock, known as Albator in French, in the CGI film Harlock: Space Pirate. His repertoire includes the role of Andrei Rublev in the mecha series Immortal Grand Prix (IGPX). In the Saint Seiya universe, he voiced Hyoga du Cygne in Saint Seiya: The Hades Chapter - Sanctuary and later took on the role of the Grand Pope in the CGI film Saint Seiya: Legend of Sanctuary. He is also the voice of Professeur Platane in the Pokémon: Mega Evolution Specials and has appeared in the One Piece franchise as the character Kumadori in Episode of Merry: The Tale of One More Friend, as well as the recurring role of Baggy the Clown.

Beyond the titles listed, his voice acting work is prolific and spans many other series. He has been heard in long-running shows such as Naruto (as Zabuza Momochi, Fugaku Uchiha), Yu-Gi-Oh! (as Bakura), and Beyblade. He was also the recurring voice of Thor in various Marvel animated series and the French voice of actor Theo James in the Divergent film series. His career reflects a transition from the Belgian dubbing industry to the French market, a move he has noted allowed his performance skills to evolve further, though he has also been vocal about the challenges of the profession, including poor pay and time constraints.
