Shoryu emerges as a Fuma clan member in the OVA "Fuma no Kojirou: Fuma Hanran-hen," concluding the saga. Three months after Kojirou and Ryouma vanish and the clan leader dies, internal dissent fractures the Fuma. Shoryu joins the rebel New Fuma Clan, opposing Kojirou's leadership and philosophy following the Sacred Sword War where Kojirou destroyed the ten Sacred Swords and renounced bloodshed.

Led by Muma, Raizou, and Shimon, the New Fuma Clan seeks control, believing Kojirou's actions betrayed their heritage and strength. They aim to restore the clan through force. Shoryu actively participates in this rebellion, engaging former allies in combat within the Fuma temple. He confronts Kirikaze during the conflict, demonstrating his commitment. His fighting style utilizes ninja tools and techniques, including the concealed "Flying Shadow Sword" (Hien Ken) deployed as a projectile.

This rebellion leads to direct clashes with loyalist members like Kirikaze, Shoryu, and Ryuho who attempt to quell the uprising before Kojirou and Ryouma return. The destructive conflict results in significant casualties among major characters, pushing the narrative toward an apocalyptic conclusion for the clan.
