OVA
Description
Shôryû is a member of the Fuma ninja clan and the younger twin brother of Kôu, sharing his sibling's near-identical appearance and dark blue hair. His perceptive and intelligent nature enables him to resist illusions cast by the enemy general Byakko, unlike other clan members. This keen awareness allows him to detect subtle changes in his brother's behavior after Kôu's supposed return from a confrontation with Yasha shinobi, exposing Byakko's impersonation attempt.
Recruited with fellow Fuma ninjas to defend Hakuo Academy against the rival Yasha clan, Shôryû becomes involved in the resurgence of their centuries-old conflict. His primary combat ability is the specialized feather-based technique Byakkujin, requiring advanced ninjutsu skill. Alongside Kôu, he is among the Fuma members who rely least on traditional sabres, favoring Byakkujin.
Following the Yasha conflict, Shôryû returns to the Fuma village with survivors Kojirou, Ryouma, Kirikaze, and Ryuho. They discover their leader murdered and the village destroyed by explosives, narrowly escaping the devastation. This event thrusts them into the Sacred Sword War, where Shôryû aids the investigation into the attack and fights against the Chaos Warriors. His involvement extends into the Fuma Rebellion arc, confronting the New Fuma Clan's coup.
His most significant relationship is the familial bond with his twin brother Kôu. Their connection carries particular weight during Kôu's demise and Shôryû's subsequent exposure of Byakko's deception. While allies like Kojirou and Ryouma exist, the narrative emphasizes the brotherly dynamic above other clan connections.
In the live-action television adaptation, Shôryû retains his core role as a Fuma ninja defending Hakuo Academy and participating in the clan war. The adaptation expands his interactions, including moments focused on his reaction to loss and his relationship with Kôu. His role consistently revolves around his identity as Kôu's twin, his use of Byakkujin, and his loyalty to the Fuma clan across its conflicts.
