Description
Shunack, a pre-apocalyptic scientist, collaborated with Dr. Sakul on lunar experiments to engineer genetically modified trees resilient to extreme environments. Frustrated by slow progress, he recklessly accelerated genetic alterations, inadvertently triggering sentience in the trees. This mutation provoked their invasion of Earth, the moon’s destruction, and global ecological collapse. After entering cryogenic hibernation, he was revived 300 years later by the militaristic nation of Ragna.

Consumed by guilt over his role in the apocalypse, Shunack dedicated himself to eradicating the sentient Forest and restoring Earth’s original state. Aligning with Ragna, he sought the Environmental Defragmentation System (E.S.T.O.C.), a volcanic weapon designed by Dr. Sakul to purge the Forest. To bolster his physical prowess, he submitted to genetic modification by the Forest itself, gaining superhuman strength and silver hair—a visible marker of his gradual metamorphosis into a tree-like being, a sacrifice he deemed essential for his mission.

Exploiting Toola, Dr. Sakul’s cryogenically preserved daughter, Shunack weaponized her nostalgia for the pre-apocalyptic world. He deceived her into aiding E.S.T.O.C.’s activation, masking its true function as a planet-scorching device until revealing his intent to obliterate Neutral City as part of his “reset.” His actions stemmed from a messianic conviction that humanity must dominate nature and atone for his catastrophic error.

In the final clash, Shunack hijacked E.S.T.O.C., betraying Ragna to enact his plan. Confronted by Agito, a Forest-enhanced youth, their duel concluded with Shunack’s absorption into the Forest’s collective consciousness. This fusion sparked his redemption, as he reconciled with the sentient ecosystem and embraced coexistence between humans and nature, his consciousness merging peacefully with the Forest.

Physically imposing with silver hair, grey eyes, and Ragna’s crimson armor, Shunack wields four Rabans—versatile pre-apocalyptic devices—on his right arm. Accompanied by Jessica, a Ragna colonel tasked with surveilling him, he balances strategic brilliance and icy resolve with an aloof exterior that conceals guilt-fueled obsession.
