OVA
Description
Masayoshi Shibata works as the school nurse and occasional substitute teacher at Jougaoka High School. Protagonist Atsushi Arisawa enrolls seeking his childhood crush, Masami Shibata, but mistakes Masayoshi for his older brother due to their resemblance, unaware Masami no longer works there. Masayoshi has brown hair and initially wears a distinctive mullet hairstyle. He presents a loud, abrasive, and rule-breaking exterior, sharply contrasting with Masami's gentle nature, masking deep-seated insecurities and emotional immaturity rooted in childhood.

His family background includes a Norwegian mother and Japanese father. After their mother died during their childhood in Norway, the brothers moved to Japan to live with their father. Masayoshi resented this move and developed intense dependency on Masami, who fulfilled maternal, paternal, and sibling roles. This dependency manifests as extreme protectiveness, especially regarding Masami's relationship with Tooru Hagiwara. Masayoshi acts as a "shipping torpedo," sabotaging their intimacy out of fear of abandonment, delaying the couple's physical relationship for years.

Professionally, Masayoshi manages Club Lush, a gay bar in Tokyo's Shinjuku district originally established by his father. While Masami holds legal ownership, Masayoshi handles daily operations, reflecting his more outgoing personality. The bar serves as a gathering place for LGBT+ characters. His personal growth forms a central narrative arc. He initially exploits Atsushi's mistaken affection, using promises of dates as incentives for academic improvement, while consistently rejecting Atsushi's romantic advances, citing disinterest in relationships with younger individuals and maintaining he is not gay. Atsushi's persistent devotion over years gradually breaks down his resistance.

Significant development occurs when Masayoshi plans to move to Norway seeking connection with his father, but faces rejection for attempting to leave Masami behind, forcing introspection. He achieves independence by moving into his own apartment, marking maturation beyond relying on his brother for domestic support. Simultaneously, he reconciles with his father's acceptance of Masami and Tooru's relationship, attending their wedding. His relationship with Atsushi evolves from teacher-student to equals. Post-time skip, as Atsushi enters adulthood and teacher training, Masayoshi admits reciprocal feelings, culminating in a committed partnership. Their dynamic shifts from Masayoshi as the dominant figure to a more reciprocal, sometimes submissive role.

Past trauma influences his character, including an attempted sexual assault during high school. This experience parallels similar incidents involving other characters. Despite his gruff exterior, he demonstrates loyalty to chosen family and undergoes substantial emotional growth, evolving from a dependent, emotionally stunted individual into someone capable of mutual love and independence.
