Description
Professor Utonium Kitazawa, alternatively called Professor Drake Utonium in certain adaptations, stands as a pivotal scientist within Tokyo City’s International Science Laboratory, focusing on chemical research. A mishap involving his robotic dog Peach—who dropped a rice cake into Chemical X—triggered the accidental synthesis of Chemical Z. This event sparked a global weather catastrophe when his son Ken launched the compound at a glacier, unleashing white and black Z-rays. The white rays bestowed three girls with superheroic powers, while the black rays birthed villains.

Renowned for his gentle nature and scientific passion, he balances flashes of immaturity and social naivety stemming from years of reclusive study. He homeschools Ken, sharing a bond deepened by the emotional absence of Ken’s mother, an astronaut stationed off-world. His ingenuity produced the Chemical Z Particle Ray, engineered to revert Z-ray transformations, though recurring mutations and lingering black-light influences persist beyond its reach.

During a critical crisis, he briefly adopted the superhero persona "Professor Puff Z," piloting a laser-armed exosuit and mecha to defend the city in the primary heroes’ stead. This venture birthed the makeshift team "Powerpuff Boys Z," uniting him with Ken and Peach. He further aids Tokyo’s officials, including the Mayor and Miss Bellum, offering tactical and technological support during emergencies.

Sporting a rectangular head, black hair, thick brows, and a signature lab coat adorned with pocket pens, he acts as a surrogate father to the three superheroes despite lacking biological ties. His background retains deliberate mystery, with only "Kitazawa" confirmed as his family name and his lineage tracing back to the original Professor Utonium from prior lore.
