Description
Ivy, known as Snake in the Japanese version, is a recurring antagonist and member of the Gangreen Gang. The English adaptation altered the character’s gender from male to female, renaming them Ivy to address concerns that original elements—such as massage-themed attacks—conflicted with younger audience standards. These adjustments reshaped narrative interactions and behavioral portrayals.

As part of the Gangreen Gang, Ivy engages in petty crimes and disruptive antics against protagonists. The character sports green skin, a sailor hat, a skirt, and a prominent nose. In the Japanese version, Snake’s rooftop antics and cruder actions, like simulating urination, were modified in the English dub to less explicit alternatives, such as deploying a garden hose, adhering to regional censorship guidelines.

A fleeting reference to Snake’s father exists, though their familial history remains unexplored. Ivy’s motivations mirror the gang’s penchant for mischief, lacking a distinct personal arc or growth. Interactions with allies like Ace (renamed Bobby Green in the dub) hint at group loyalty, though these dynamics remain underdeveloped.

The character’s role remains confined to the anime series, with no expansion into films, spin-offs, or other media. Ivy persists as a secondary antagonist throughout the narrative, maintaining a static presence without significant evolution in backstory or personality.
