Description
Shuren commands the Crimson Army as one of the five Nanto Goshasei, holding the position of Nanto Gosha Sei. His Gosha Enjō Ken fighting style employs phosphorus to generate and control lethal flames, marking him as "Shuren of the Flames". This martial art enables him to engulf foes in fire and hurl fiery projectiles.
His bond with Hyui, another Nanto Goshasei member considered his "brother star", drives his actions. After Hyui dies by Raoh's hand, Shuren launches his forces against Raoh's army. He orchestrates a preemptive ambush with flaming arrows against Raoh's troops in a valley and confronts Raoh directly.
Facing Raoh, Shuren unleashes fire to blind his opponent before striking from behind. Raoh counters, crushing Shuren's fist and shattering his kick. In defiance, Shuren initiates a self-immolating attack. Raoh overpowers him, declaring the flames too weak to consume his ambition, and fatally snaps Shuren's neck.
Within the *Shin Kyūseishu Densetsu* film series' *Legend of Yuria* OVA, Shuren joins fellow Nanto Goshasei Fudo and Hyui on a mission to capture Nanto Suichō Ken master Rei for delivery to the Last Nanto General, preceding the main conflict with Raoh.
*Legend of Raoh: Chapter of Fierce Fight* depicts Shuren's battle against Raoh in condensed form, culminating in Raoh deflecting Shuren's fireball attack, causing Shuren to explode amidst the flames.
