Description
Don Wei's character was forged by personal tragedy. In 2072, married to his first champion pilot Maya, they had a daughter, Eva. Maya died during a race caused by a ship malfunction, later revealed as orchestrated by Canaletto. Shattered, Don abandoned Eva at Stern Boarding School and drifted for years, severing ties with his past.

His professional resurgence began in 2076 upon encountering Rick Thunderbolt at a desert gas station. Recognizing Rick's talent, Don signed him, transforming Rick into a champion and rebuilding Wei Racing into Earth's premier team. Despite their success, their relationship soured, leading Don to fire Rick under undisclosed circumstances in 2081.

The next year, Eva escaped boarding school and approached Don, who failed to recognize her. When his ship malfunctioned before the Grand Prix, she fixed it by removing an upgrade. Impressed, he hired her as a mechanic under the alias "Molly." Don assembled Earth's team for the Great Race of Ōban with Rick as pilot and Jordan Wilde as gunner. Molly stowed away to Alwas, where Rick's injury forced Don to reluctantly accept her as pilot, his opposition stemming from Maya's death. He remained critical, favoring Jordan.

Racing on Alwas and Ōban, Don observed Molly's piloting echoing Maya's mannerisms. Suspecting her identity, he contacted Stern Boarding School and learned of Eva's disappearance. Confronting Molly after the fourth race and dismissing her denials, he confirmed she was Eva. This revelation transformed him; he became protective, attempting to withdraw her from the dangerous finals to prevent Maya's fate. When she refused, he secretly watched over her. Later, he publicly acknowledged her as his daughter and expressed his love before her pivotal race.

Following the Great Race, Don reconciled with Eva. They returned to Earth, establishing a shared home near her new school. The series concluded with them visiting Maya's grave, symbolizing their healing as a family.
