Description
Raiden Shuga holds the position of deputy leader and operations commander for the Spearhead Squadron and later fulfills a similar role within the Eighty-Sixth Strike Package's 1st Armored Group. His Personal Name, Wehrwolf, stems from a once volatile temperament that has tempered with age. He maintains a straightforward and confrontational nature, openly addressing issues regardless of rank, including superiors. Known as the squadron's emotional anchor, he acts in a nurturing capacity, often called its "mother" for handling responsibilities like cooking, sewing, and tending to fellow members' well-being.

Born August 25, SY 2132 in the Republic's Twenty-Third Sector, Raiden was hidden early in the war by an elderly Alba woman, The Old Nan, along with other Colorata children. They took refuge in an abandoned boarding school within the Ninth Sector for five years. The Old Nan provided shelter and education, profoundly shaping Raiden's perspective; unlike many Eighty-Six, his resilience relied on more than pride. Their sanctuary ended when an informant alerted Republic authorities, leading to forced conscription despite The Old Nan's resistance. Raiden became the sole survivor of his original squadron after repeated battles, resulting in his reassignment to Shinei Nouzen's unit.

Initially clashing with Shinei over perceived aloofness, Raiden developed a deep bond with him, becoming Shinei's longest-surviving comrade and trusted confidant. He functions as Shinei's anchor, intervening during self-destructive tendencies and compensating for Shinei's emotional detachment within the squadron. Raiden is the sole person Shinei confided in about the origin of his facial scar. As vice-captain, Raiden manages tactical coordination and assumes command if Shinei is incapacitated.

In combat, Raiden specializes in suppressive fire. He employs heavy machine guns or autocannons mounted on his Reginleif's grappling arms to halt enemy advances and support allies. This role developed organically from years fighting alongside close-combat specialists like Shinei. Though a capable Name Bearer, he acknowledges limitations in matching high-mobility fighters.

Raiden initially distrusted handlers like Vladilena Milizé, bluntly advising her resignation early on. His opinion improved as she demonstrated reliability, eventually prompting concern for her safety during synchronized battles. He shares a brotherly dynamic with Frederica Rosenfort, accommodating her requests like cooking. His reunion with The Old Nan occurred when she joined the Strike Package as a civilian instructor, reaffirming their mutual respect and affection.

Physically, Raiden stands 185 cm tall with a muscular build, steel-colored hair, and green eyes. Distinctive scars mark his face above the right eyebrow and on the left cheek. He initially wore Republic desert camouflage, later adopting the Federacy's steel-colored panzer jacket uniform.
