Description
Michael Karl Popper, called Kid, is a teenager plagued by recurring dreams of plummeting from the sky, driving him to question the boundaries of his perceived reality. He ventures into an online chatroom seeking clarity, where a cryptic presence—later unmasked as Neo—validates his suspicions about the illusory world. Neo’s messages escalate from philosophical riddles to urgent directives as agents of the system begin hunting Kid.

Cornered during a confrontation at his school, Kid answers a life-altering call from Neo, commanding him to run. Fleeing relentless pursuers, he ascends to a rooftop edge. Trusting Neo’s assurances and his own conviction that the world is a construct, Kid leaps—a defiant act of faith that triggers “self-substantiation,” a rare phenomenon where sheer willpower shatters the simulation’s hold, freeing him without external aid.

In the bleak real world, Kid meets Neo, who reveals his survival hinged entirely on his unyielding psyche, not outside intervention. This encounter underscores Kid’s innate ability to reject systemic control, forging liberation through self-reliance.

His autonomous escape marks him as an anomaly among the system’s prisoners, showcasing mental resilience surpassing even fellow dissidents. Kid’s journey crystallizes the tension between programmed oppression and individual agency, embodying the transformative force of conviction in dismantling artificial boundaries.
