TV-Series
Description
Slapper operates as part of a Predacon trio with Gas Skunk and Dark Scream. He is notoriously dim-witted, even by Predacon standards, yet possesses sufficient intelligence for a cruel sense of humor, particularly enjoying his teammates' failures and injuries. His combat approach blends amphibious assault prowess for effective sneak attacks with extreme gullibility, which adversaries often exploit to talk him out of direct confrontation. His designated role is Marshland Trooper, though this specialization saw no practical use in marshlands during their campaigns.
Throughout the animated series, Slapper participates in numerous missions under Sky-Byte and Megatron. Early engagements include a New York battle where X-Brawn evades him by scaling a building and attacking from above, instructing Slapper to "measure his tongue"; Slapper complies, measuring it at 42 feet, 3 inches. He frequently engages in energy theft, destroying a freight train for small batteries, planting pulsar bombs to sabotage a bullet train bridge, and attempting to steal a Plutonium Energy Generator and a ruby. These missions typically end in retreat or failure due to Autobot intervention or the trio's incompetence.
His gullibility is consistently exploited. During one guard duty over the captured Autobot Side Burn, fabricated stories about red sports cars easily deceive him, and he fails to recognize Autobots in vehicle disguises during a rescue. In another incident, while attempting to brainwash Tow-Line with a hypnotic pendulum and metronome, he inadvertently puts himself to sleep. He also falls for Autobot ruses, including a false defection by Mirage and a scheme making a dormant robot warrior appear hostile.
Following the arrival of Decepticons reformatted with Megatron's spark code, Slapper and his fellow Predacons are sidelined. They participate in plans to disguise themselves as Autobots, including impersonating Optimus Prime, to instigate infighting between Decepticons and Autobots, achieving minimal success. Later missions involve guarding captured Autobots, aiding Sky-Byte in hiding fake O-Parts, and battling teams like the Build Team and Spychangers, consistently ending in defeat or retreat.
After Galvatron's defeat, Slapper and the other Predacons (excluding Sky-Byte) are incarcerated within a dimensional prison transported to Cybertron by Fortress Maximus. Confined with his teammates, Slapper reflects on Sky-Byte's absence, concluding that being stranded on Earth is a fate worse than their imprisonment.
Beyond the animated series, in the 3H comics, Slapper joins a coalition army repelling a Quintesson invasion of Cybertron. During this conflict, he and Stampy board an escaping Quintesson dropship, plant explosives, and leap to safety before detonating the vessel.
Physically, he transforms into a techno-organic toad. His beast mode tongue becomes a hand-held flail weapon in robot mode, and he features a flip-up claw on his toad back. He possesses documented special attacks named "Right Laser" and "Tongue Lash Attack".
