Description
Ryo Hibiki is a central figure, initially a 16-year-old aspiring astronaut who joined the Borgman Project for space travel preparation. The project required cyborg enhancements but was aborted after a demon attack orchestrated by traitor Gilbert Mesh. Forced to abandon his dream, Ryo became a combat cyborg warrior defending Megalo City while teaching at CySonic Academy. By the events of "Last Battle," set three years later at age 19, he works as a NASA engineer on a major rocket project.

Physically, Ryo sports short, tousled brown hair and blue eyes, with a build appearing older than his years. His standard attire is a high-collared buttoned vest over a red shirt with folded sleeves, a white belt, white pants, black boots, and black fingerless gloves. As a Borgman, he utilizes a blue "Balector" battlesuit optimized for speed and close combat, paired with the AI-enhanced motorcycle Road Thunder (or Super Thunder), serving as both transport and tactical weapon.

His personality is hot-blooded, driven by determination, a strong sense of justice, and a passion for motorcycles. He harbors romantic feelings for fellow Borgman Anice Farm; their relationship evolves into an official couple across the series and OVAs. This dynamic is central to "Last Battle" and "Lover's Rain," where tensions arise during Anice's temporary departure for a high-tech job in Japan, though they reconcile. Ryo's emotional resilience is tested after the death of Borgman Project leader Memory Gene, leading to despair explored in "Lover's Rain."

In combat, Ryo specializes in tactical fighting using his Balector and wields a Battle Machine Gun. His cyborg enhancements grant heightened physical capabilities, though he remains vulnerable to psychological strains like survivor's guilt following teammate and civilian losses. By the 2058 OVA sequel, he transitions into a leadership role, commanding a new generation of Borgman operatives. His character arc concludes with a partial return to his original aspirations, balancing NASA engineering work with ongoing responsibilities safeguarding humanity.
