Joey Hood

Description
Joey Hood is an American actor known for his work in English-language dubs of anime series and films, primarily during the late 1990s and 2000s. Born on October 11, 1976, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, his career is closely associated with ADV Films, a Houston-based production company that was a major producer of English anime adaptations during that era.

Hood voiced a variety of characters across different genres, often taking on leading or supporting roles in original video animations and television series. He is credited as the English voice of Yuuji Tamiya in the 2001 sci-fi OVA Zaion: I Wish You Were Here. In the Sonic Soldier Borgman franchise, he voiced two distinct characters: he was the voice of Ryo Hibiki in the 1989 film Sonic Soldier Borgman: Last Battle and provided the voice for both Ryo Hibiki and a character named Thunder in the 1990 sequel, Sonic Soldier Borgman: Lover's Rain. He also played the mysterious swordsman Arc in the fantasy comedy television series Petite Princess Yucie.

His film work extended to live-action dubbing as well, providing the English voice for the character Kiri in the 2001 film Princess Blade. On television, his anime roles were extensive and included Shunsuke Akagi and various computer voices in Dai-Guard, Takeshi Maki in Devil Lady, Kyouji Kagami in Getbackers, and Wilson in Zone of the Enders. He notably took on the title role in both the Jing: King of Bandits television series and its sequel OVA, Jing, King of Bandits: Seventh Heaven, as well as portraying Ki Hatsu in Soul Hunter and Kenji Himura in Rurouni Kenshin: Reflection. He also had a role in the OVA Shuten Doji.

Throughout his career, Hood frequently collaborated with a consistent group of voice actors who were also part of the ADV Films roster in Texas. His credits often feature performers such as Jason Liebrecht, Robert Matney, Lana Lesley, and Leigh Anderson Fisher, among others. Beyond anime, his voice acting work includes roles in video games, such as providing voices for the characters Nightwing, Guy Gardner, and Evil Star in the 2011 massively multiplayer online game DC Universe Online.
