Kawai Shizuka lives on a lunar colony, working part-time with her best friend Nagisa Kasumi at a fast-food delivery service. Their job involves transporting orders across the moonbase, including to the starship *Queen Fuji*.

During one delivery to the *Queen Fuji*, Shizuka and Nagisa come under attack by Neos Gold's forces. General Fiber assaults the moonbase, taking Shizuka hostage and nearly killing her. Iczer-3 intervenes, rescuing both girls from Fiber. This event compels Shizuka, Nagisa, and Iczer-3 to join the *Queen Fuji*'s crew for safety and to aid in the conflict.

As part of the starship's crew, Shizuka contributes to operations despite her gentle and often fearful demeanor. She is terrified of insects, experiencing significant distress during encounters with Neos Gold's general, Insect. Concurrently, she harbors persistent worry for her parents' safety on Earth amidst the alien threat.

In the manga continuity *Iczer Densetsu*, Shizuka's background and role differ significantly. She is depicted as blind and forms a direct partnership with Iczer-3. This bond enables her to perceive Iczer entities and their adversaries despite her lack of sight. This version also demonstrates high intelligence and notable talent in programming.
