OVA
Description
Tohma Seguchi performs as keyboardist for Nittle Grasper while commanding N-G Productions as its exacting CEO. His marriage to Mika Seguchi maintains a formal politeness, reflected in his consistent use of honorifics like "-san" even toward his wife. Profound guilt defines his past regarding his indirect role in the trauma suffered by his brother-in-law, Eiri Yuki, in New York. Tohma personally hired Yuki Kitazawa, whose subsequent assault on the teenage Eiri led Eiri to kill Kitazawa in self-defense. This event fuels Tohma’s intense, often obsessive protectiveness of Eiri, whom he declares his "dearest." An outwardly calm and courteous demeanor serves as his carefully maintained facade, which fractures noticeably when Eiri’s well-being is threatened.

His interactions with Shuichi Shindo, Eiri’s partner and Bad Luck’s lead singer, reveal this complexity. Initially dismissive and manipulative, Tohma leverages his authority as Shuichi’s employer to interfere in their relationship, perceiving Shuichi’s resemblance to Eiri’s younger self as a potential source of emotional distress. He explicitly threatens Shuichi’s career to enforce distance from Eiri. Despite this antagonism, Tohma acknowledges Shuichi’s musical talent and recognizes his positive influence on Eiri’s emotional state. His hostility intertwines with implied jealousy over Shuichi succeeding in healing Eiri where Tohma failed. Ryuichi Sakuma, Nittle Grasper’s vocalist, intervenes to shield Shuichi from Tohma’s schemes; Tohma later cites Ryuichi’s wishes as the reason for his restraint toward Shuichi.

Tohma exhibits ruthlessness in business and personal vendettas. He orchestrates the downfall of ASK’s lead singer, Taki Aizawa, after Taki targets Shuichi with violence and blackmail – actions threatening Eiri’s stability. Tohma confronts Taki, blaming his career collapse on the harassment of Shuichi and, consequently, Eiri. In the manga, Tohma deliberately sets a lethal trap for Taki after Taki attempts to expose Eiri’s traumatic past.

Character development emerges primarily through his relationship with Mika. Her pregnancy coincides with his persistent fixation on Eiri, culminating in her stress-induced hospitalization. This crisis prompts a tearful apology from Tohma, acknowledging the harm caused by his actions. Mika reassures him of Eiri’s place within their family. Ultimately, Tohma accepts Shuichi’s role in Eiri’s life. When Eiri informs Tohma of his decision to return home to Shuichi, Tohma reacts with visible heartbreak yet resignation.

Within the *Lyrics of Love* OVA, Tohma engineers the central conflict by commissioning Eiri to write lyrics for Nittle Grasper’s Tokyo Bay Music Festival performance. Aware of Shuichi’s struggles to write lyrics amid relationship insecurities, Tohma’s decision deliberately exacerbates Shuichi’s fears of betrayal and professional inadequacy, demonstrating his continued willingness to manipulate circumstances affecting Eiri and those connected to him.
