Description
Shuichi Shindou, an aspiring musician and the lead vocalist of the band Bad Luck, dreams of making it big in the music industry. His life takes a dramatic turn when he encounters the enigmatic and aloof novelist Eiri Yuki, who harshly criticizes Shuichi’s lyrics. Despite the initial hostility, Shuichi becomes infatuated with Yuki, sparking a complex and tumultuous romantic relationship. Yuki, a former heir to a powerful family, carries emotional scars from his past, including a strained relationship with his father and a tragic history with his late lover, Ryuichi Sakuma, the lead singer of the popular band Nittle Grasper.
As Shuichi pursues his musical ambitions, he faces challenges both professionally and personally. His band, Bad Luck, struggles to gain recognition, and his relationship with Yuki is fraught with misunderstandings, jealousy, and external pressures. Yuki’s cold demeanor and reluctance to fully commit to the relationship create tension, while Shuichi’s impulsive and emotional nature often leads to conflicts. The series explores themes of love, identity, and the pursuit of dreams, as Shuichi navigates the highs and lows of his career and his evolving bond with Yuki.
Supporting characters play significant roles in shaping the narrative. Hiroshi Nakano, Shuichi’s best friend and bandmate, provides comic relief and unwavering support. Tohma Seguchi, the manipulative and calculating president of N-G Records, adds intrigue as he influences both Shuichi’s career and Yuki’s life. Ryuichi Sakuma, Yuki’s former lover, reappears, further complicating the dynamics between Shuichi and Yuki. The series delves into the complexities of relationships, both romantic and platonic, while highlighting the struggles of artistic expression and the sacrifices required to achieve success.
The story intertwines Shuichi’s journey as a musician with his emotional growth, as he learns to balance his passion for music with his desire for a meaningful connection with Yuki. The series culminates in a resolution that addresses the central conflicts, offering closure to the characters’ arcs while leaving room for their continued evolution. Through its exploration of love, ambition, and self-discovery, "Gravitation: Lyrics of Love" presents a narrative that resonates with themes of perseverance and the transformative power of relationships.
