Description
"Gravitation" is a manga series that blends romance, comedy, and drama within the framework of the music industry. The story centers on Shuichi Shindou, an aspiring musician and the lead vocalist of the band Bad Luck. Shuichi dreams of achieving fame and recognition, inspired by his idol, the enigmatic and talented songwriter Ryuichi Sakuma of the band Nittle Grasper. Shuichi’s life takes a dramatic turn when he encounters Yuki Eiri, a cold and aloof novelist who harshly criticizes Shuichi’s lyrics. Despite Yuki’s abrasive demeanor, Shuichi becomes infatuated with him, sparking a tumultuous and passionate relationship.

The narrative explores the challenges Shuichi faces as he navigates his burgeoning music career while grappling with his feelings for Yuki. Their relationship is marked by emotional intensity, with Yuki’s guarded personality and troubled past creating significant obstacles. Yuki, haunted by the death of his former lover and burdened by familial expectations, struggles to fully reciprocate Shuichi’s affection, leading to moments of conflict and heartbreak.

As Bad Luck gains popularity, Shuichi must balance his professional ambitions with his personal life. The series delves into the dynamics of the band, including Shuichi’s interactions with his bandmates, Hiroshi Nakano and Suguru Fujisaki, as well as their manager, Taki Aizawa. The competitive nature of the music industry, rivalries with other bands, and the pressures of fame are recurring themes.

Supporting characters, such as Ryuichi Sakuma and his bandmate Tohma Seguchi, play significant roles in the story. Tohma, who is also Yuki’s brother-in-law, adds complexity to the narrative through his manipulative tendencies and involvement in the music industry’s darker aspects. The series also touches on themes of identity, self-discovery, and the pursuit of artistic expression.

"Gravitation" combines lighthearted moments with deeper emotional undertones, creating a balance between humor and drama. The evolving relationship between Shuichi and Yuki remains central, with their bond tested by external pressures and internal struggles. The manga’s exploration of love, ambition, and personal growth resonates throughout its narrative, making it a compelling story within the shonen-ai genre.
