Movie
Description
Toriyasu is Meeko's older brother and a main protagonist. He initially remains indifferent to his dog Papadoll's disappearance, dismissing his sister's concerns about unusual circumstances and laughing at her theories of alien abduction, showing detachment from familial responsibility.
When three feline scientists transport both siblings to the cat world Banipal Witt, Toriyasu resists involvement in its conflict. He expresses fear of the strange environment and wants to return home immediately after learning Princess Buburina transformed Papadoll into a giant flying monster. His reluctance persists even when Master Sandada reveals only Toriyasu possesses the power to reverse the transformation.
Character development occurs through key experiences. After Buburina takes Meeko hostage, Toriyasu shifts from reluctance to determination to rescue his sister and dog. He participates in a mission to infiltrate Buburina's castle, though his accidental slip triggers alarms, jeopardizing the plan. During the aerial battle, DohDoh's taunting triggers Toriyasu's guilt-ridden memory of mistreating Papadoll to vent frustration after facing neighborhood bullies, fueling his resolve.
In the climax, Toriyasu confronts Buburina directly to reclaim Papadoll. When she tears off Papadoll's collar, nearly causing Toriyasu to fall to his death, Papadoll remembers their bond and disobeys Buburina's attack command. Toriyasu successfully calms Papadoll with ChuChu's assistance, demonstrating newfound leadership. His human immunity to Buburina's balloon-transforming curse becomes strategically advantageous.
Following Papadoll's rescue and Meeko's safe return, Toriyasu regains appreciation for his pet and family. His relationship with ChuChu develops, ending as close friends with implied romantic interest. Back in the human world, Toriyasu resumes ordinary life but stays connected to Banipal Witt through the cats' final visit to his school, suggesting future adventures. This journey symbolizes reclaiming childhood imagination and emotional connection, transitioning him from detachment to responsibility and care.
