Dorothy Melendrez is the former professional name of the accomplished American voice actress Dorothy Elias-Fahn, who has built an extensive career in anime dubbing and animation since the early 1990s. She is known for a wide array of prominent lead roles in English adaptations of popular anime series.

Born Dorothy Ann Elias and a graduate of California State University at Long Beach, she began her voice-over career using the name Dorothy Melendrez. Under this name, she provided voices for numerous anime titles during the 1990s and 2000s, a period that saw the rise of English-dubbed anime in the United States. Among her earliest works was the role of Toriyasu in the 1995 English adaptation of the film Catnapped! The Movie. She is also known to fans for her role as Ray in the series Shinzo. Over the course of her career, she has also used other pseudonyms, most notably Johanna Luis, for various credits.

Throughout her career, she has frequently collaborated with major anime dubbing studios such as Bang Zoom! Entertainment and Studiopolis. This has led to recurring work with a consistent circle of fellow voice actors and production staff in the Los Angeles-area voice-over community. Her personal life includes marriage to fellow voice actor Tom Fahn, making her part of a family with deep roots in the industry, as she is also the sister-in-law of voice actors Melissa Fahn and Jonathan Fahn.

One of her most significant achievements is the sheer volume and variety of iconic characters she has brought to life. Her filmography includes starring roles as Meryl Stryfe in Trigun, Kamiya Kaoru in Rurouni Kenshin, and Naru Narusegawa in Love Hina, all credited under the name Dorothy Melendrez. She also voiced Nina Purpleton in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083 and Yōko Nakajima in The Twelve Kingdoms. In addition to these leads, she has contributed voices to long-running and globally successful franchises, including various roles throughout the Digimon series and as Konan in Naruto: Shippuden. Her later work, often credited as Johanna Luis, includes roles in the Viz Media dub of Sailor Moon and as Shuuko Komi in Komi Can't Communicate.
