Lieza Flora Meruno is a young woman from the outskirts of the village of Holn, born with the rare and innate ability to communicate with monsters and tame them. This power, which she shares with her clan, marks her as a beasttalker and a monster tamer, but it also makes her a target. The Romalia military seeks her out to use her abilities for their Chimera project, a sinister program that creates hybrid monsters. Because of her powers, many outsiders fear her and have given her the nickname the Witch of Holn. Lieza is first encountered as a captive aboard a Romalian airship, held hostage alongside her loyal monster companion Paundit, a large wolf-like creature.
