Description
Mordred Doussant serves as an aspirant within the Order of the Knight-Sorcerers of Cyfandir. He cultivates a convincing facade of loyalty, working alongside fellow apprentices Ocoho and Sagramor and participating fully in their duties and interactions to mask his true nature and intentions. This allegiance ultimately shatters, revealing him as a traitor working against the order.
The core of Mordred's existence lies in his infection. This condition fundamentally prevents him from experiencing genuine emotions. Every emotional display, including all past interactions and expressions, constitutes learned behavior and meticulous mimicry. This profound emotional void stems directly from the infection's effect, cultivated since his integration into the Knight-Sorcerers during his youth. He describes this state with chilling coldness, devoid of remorse or personal connection.
Mordred's betrayal erupts during a confrontation with Ocoho. He openly admits his deception, specifically citing his false interactions and the calculated manipulation of her feelings. He dismisses any possibility of regret or emotional complexity, attributing his actions solely to his infected nature. His aggression escalates to violence when he attacks and wounds Draccoon, Ocoho's companion, as it attempts to protect her.
He then directly exploits Ocoho's curse, a mark below her ear. Pressing this mark grants him control over her actions. He commands her to jump into the void, and she obeys without memory of the event, demonstrating his willingness to weaponize others' vulnerabilities.
Furthermore, Mordred eliminates Sagramor after the latter's own betrayal is discovered and he attempts to switch allegiances. Mordred kills Sagramor, displaying ruthless efficiency towards former allies deemed expendable or untrustworthy.
