Description
Touma Inaba, a high school graduate from rural Japan, relocates to Tokyo aspiring to enter Keio University. After repeated entrance exam failures, he meets Mieko Yotsuba during an exam and develops an intense infatuation. When Mieko gains acceptance to Keio and he does not, Touma fabricates his own acceptance, creating a false identity as a Keio student to win her favor.

To sustain this lie, he enrolls in a cram school while feigning university attendance. He moves into his absent uncle's apartment, discovering his cousin Urara Kasuga resides there alone. Urara, who harbored childhood feelings for him, uncovers his deception but chooses silence out of loyalty. Initially dismissive and self-centered, Touma ignores Urara's affection, obsessively pursuing Mieko. Their relationship reaches a crisis when a game of strip poker escalates to an attempted sexual assault by Touma on Urara; he stops himself before proceeding further, causing temporary severe strain.

Touma's falsehood is ultimately exposed by Tatsuhiko Mashu, a rival Keio student also interested in Mieko, destroying his relationship with her. This leads Touma into a sexual relationship with Urara. Their involvement faces turmoil, including Urara's pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage following violence related to an escort service scheme. Touma also briefly resumes a physical relationship with Mieko when she suspects Mashu's infidelity.

Academically adrift, Touma qualifies for S Shuu University but misses the enrollment deadline while preoccupied with his hospitalized friend Kouji Akimoto, injured defending him. Rejected by other universities, his frustration culminates in vandalizing his former middle school. Urara takes responsibility using her student ID, sacrificing her own college admission to protect him.

During this period, Touma engages in transient sexual relationships with multiple women: childhood friend Momoe Shimizu, cram school receptionist Etsuko Koiwai, student Kotomi Hayashibara (who schemes to frame him for infidelity), and Mieko Hotta. These experiences contribute to his slow maturation. He eventually reconciles with Urara after completing her condition: ascending and descending temple stairs one hundred times to restart their relationship.

Touma evolves from an academically inept, deceitful, and impulsive young man toward greater accountability, though his path is marked by recurring setbacks and moral ambiguity. His complex relationship with Urara persistently challenges his self-centered tendencies, pushing him to confront his responsibilities and emotional connections.
